The filter is on but I can't tap anything

On Android 12 and newer the system blocks touches through a very dark overlay. Veil keeps the filter at or below that limit. If it still happens, lower the opacity in Settings, then turn protection off and on.

Veil asks to display over other apps

This is how the filter and cover are drawn on top of other apps. Open Android Settings, then Apps, then Veil, then "Display over other apps", and allow it.

The filter turns off after a while

Some phone makers close apps in the background to save battery. In Android Settings, set Veil's battery use to "Unrestricted" (the name varies by phone), and keep its notification on. The notification is what keeps protection running.

Look-Away or Peek Alert is not working

  • Check that the camera permission is allowed for Veil.
  • Another app may be using the camera, such as during a video call. Veil gives the camera back and tries again later.
  • Use the phone in decent light and hold it so the front camera can see your face.
  • These modes are Pro features. Open Settings, then Veil Pro, and use Restore purchases if you already bought Pro.

Auto-on for apps does nothing

It needs "Usage access". Open Android Settings, search for "Usage access", choose Veil and allow it. Then pick your apps again in Veil. It is a Pro feature.

Purchases and subscriptions

  • Cancel in Google Play, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
  • New phone? Open Veil, then Settings, then Restore purchases, with the same Google account.
  • Refund requests go through Google Play.
